You asked, and we answered. After much experimentation, the Plants + Animals team has perfected our iconic keto buns to be tasty, nutritionally dense and easy to make. While we recommend you stop by sometime and try them on one of our tasty sandwiches, dig in below to try making our classic buns on your own.
- 4 1/2 cups almond flour
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup psyllium husk
- 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum
- 1 Tablespoon Salt
- 2/3 cup coconut oil
- 10 eggs (reserve one)
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds (optional)
Mix dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Add 9 eggs to dry ingredients and mix.
Add water and room temp coconut oil and mix.
Let mix rest 5 minutes then scoop 12 portions onto a lined sheet pan.
Use remaining egg to egg wash buns before baking. Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional)Bake at 325 F for approximately 20 minutes until golden brown.
